Hinterland Story by Carol Forster

One of my favorite pastimes is to go walking in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.  I am constantly amazed at the variety of native nuts, seeds and general flora I find on the forest floor.  I collect bits and pieces from my walks and take them back to my studio in Buderim.  Some are then used to make a rubber latex mould.  I take a relief clay print from this mould and use it to create sculptural memories of these beautiful hinterland areas.

This piece also reflects my ongoing experimentation with contrasts and contradictions in clay, from rough to smooth, gloss to matt and light to dark.

Hinterland Story is an original, ceramic sculpture which can may also serve as a vase.
