Showcasing more than 120 garments and accessories, Alexander McQueen: Mind, Mythos, Muse offers insight into McQueen’s far-reaching sources of inspiration, his creative processes and capacity for storytelling. Displayed alongside McQueen’s innovative designs are more than eighty artworks – spanning painting, sculpture, textiles, prints, photography and decorative arts – that help to illuminate the interdisciplinary impulse that defined his career.

untitled (walam-wunga.galang) is a collaborative project with Uncle Stan Grant Senior and Beatrice Murray. It celebrates the south-east cultural practice of collecting seeds, grinding them to make flour, to make bread, feeding our families. This practice has occurred for countless generations in this region. A grindstone believed to be 32,000 years old was unearthed in central New South Wales, making us some of the world’s oldest bread-makers.
Using large-scale sandstone grindstones and a soundscape in Wiradjuri language, the artwork emphasises the sophistication of Aboriginal agricultural economy, which was erased by colonial narratives of First Nation’s people as hunters-gatherers.

The National 4: Australian Art Now reflects how artists are responding to some of the most urgent and critical ideas of our times, imagining new ways of seeing and being in the world at a time of unprecedented change. Reflecting the latest evolutions in contemporary art, the exhibition includes works in diverse media including painting, photography, film, video, sculpture, installation, drawing, sound and performance, encompassing a range of experimental, process-based and socially engaged practices.
