Water, memory, reflection.
New Zealand–Australian artist Linda Kypriadakis explores water as both material and metaphor, creating contemplative works that blur the boundaries between the physical and spiritual worlds.
Working with acrylic paint and water on aluminium composite panels, Linda builds luminous surfaces through intuitive layers, delicate glazes and meticulous sanding. Rather than simply depicting water, her paintings capture its essence—its stillness, depth and quiet power.
Inspired by Oceanic concepts of connection and spirituality, her reflective works invite viewers to pause, look deeper and immerse themselves in the beauty of the natural world.

Capturing the beauty and power of the natural world is central to Sam Brett’s practice.
In Break and Surge, the Melbourne-based artist turns his attention to the ocean, exploring the force and movement of waves as they rise and collapse. Using thick layers of oil paint to build the darker body of the water, Brett contrasts weight and depth with lighter tones and refined marks that describe the foam and spray.
By keeping the composition tightly focused on the wave forms, he allows the energy and rhythm of the sea to fill the canvas, creating a work that feels both immersive and dynamic. Break and Surge is a striking example of Brett’s ability to capture fleeting moments in nature with realism, atmosphere and emotion.

Colour & Creative Healing
Step Into Emma Kelly’s Vibrant Universe
Art Lovers Australia sat down for a chat with artist Emma Kelly, whose instantly recognisable paintings are filled with bold colour, playful energy and uplifting emotion. Working primarily in acrylic on canvas, Emma creates vibrant compositions inspired by mood, memory, nature and everyday objects, all brought together through her signature geometric forms and thick black line work.
What began as a therapeutic creative outlet during a difficult period of her mental health journey has evolved into a deeply personal and celebrated artistic practice. Drawing influence from artists such as Margaret Preston and Ken Done, Emma embraces a deliberately childlike and optimistic style, creating artworks that feel joyful, nostalgic and emotionally honest.
Known for her recurring bird motifs, instinctive process and unmistakable visual language, Emma’s paintings invite viewers into a world of warmth, creativity and connection, reminding us that art can be both expressive and healing.

“I love it when my art gets a physical reaction from people.”
Karen Chappelow creates work that hits like lemon juice in a cut - sharp, unexpected, impossible to ignore. Through fierce female energy, absurd scenarios, and biting humour, her art breaks down barriers while making people laugh, think, and start conversations.
Drawing from mythology, anthropology, history, and pop culture, Karen flips traditional power dynamics on their head - handing control back to women, the outsiders, and the underestimated. Bold, unapologetic, and laced with sass, her expressionist paintings and sculptures challenge contemporary society while keeping a wicked sense of humour alive.
Collected around the world, her work doesn’t whisper… it provokes.
