A Rainy Day At The Beach by Maggi McDonald

On a rainy day I sat by the ocean, listening to the waves crashing on the sand, smelling the salty air and contemplating life and everything in between…

A new experimental series of abstract beachscapes and landscapes using thick layers of acrylic to create texture and movement.

I’ve given myself the freedom to play and experiment in the studio and this has been an intensely satisfying excercise and a fresh new direction for my art. The interesting thing is that I am using the same tools, paint and colours with the results being so different yet still very familiar to my original style.

This artwork was inspired by my love affair with the ocean and it’s ever changing colour palette of blues with the pink of a sunset at the end of a beautiful day…

Artwork is framed in a raw Tasmanian Oak frame and comes with a wire across the back ready to hang on the wall.

Created in my Sydney studio X
