My original painting is a narrative image about the importance and beauty of trees. The central focus is the mirrored disc, which is the monocle or the eye in nature. It is floating above the green scape, surrounded by trees, reflecting the blue sky dotted with fluffy clouds. There is a sense of abundance and tranquility. The monocle reminds us that nature has an eye that glances around at all that is happening. It evokes a spiritual awareness of nature, especially trees. I use quality oils painted on stretched canvas or fine linen. My ideas come from many years of mentally collecting imagery, otherwise known as daydreaming. My trees are well known characters taken from the landscape and repositioned in a situation to help the viewer to connect on an emotional and spiritual level, and to bring attention to the vital importance of trees and their role in our ecology.
