Additional Information

Ochre Patterns Series III by Cara Shields – is a contemporary view of ochre mixing into the earth.

Ochre was a precious resource.  Different shades of yellow, white and red was used for medicinal purposes, body paint, communication via message stick (each color would have a different meaning), painting our Dreamtime stories and maps in caves/bark.

Traditional ochre mines are considered sacred and have connections to the Dreamtime.

Mixing white ochre and acrylic paint to create a swirling effect while taking inspiration from Scar and Dendroglyph trees with the linework, Ochre Patterns is a contemporary view of our most precious resource.
