Additional Information

Lorikeet Paradise by Rosemary Legat – I never get tired of seeing beautiful coloured lorikeets perched amongst our front yard foliage.

These colourful birds are enticed into our yard by the wild bird seed I have been leaving out on a regular basis for over a year now.

I have to admit I am not an experienced fauna painter but for some time I have wanted to create a painting influenced by these gorgeous coloured native birds that bring me so much joy, even though they tend to squawk a lot.

Acrylic paint, acrylic ink, spray paint, stencilling and watercolour paint on hot pressed watercolour paper.  The stencils I used in this piece were all designed and created by myself.

To start this piece I selected one of my multi layered intuitive painted bases to develop into a lush habitat for my lorikeets to perch.  I added further layers of paint, markings along with spray painted foliage, all to build depth, texture and interest.

The final touch was to paint in my two lorikeets amongst the lush foliage.

Signed on the front.

Let your eyes wonder around the canvas until you can spot my partially hidden birds.

As Lorikeet Paradise requires framing to hang, my gallery photos include examples of how this piece could look framed and hung.

My work is very organic therefore I left the rough top edge of my watercolour paper sheet which can be trimmed back or covered by your choice of framing process.

Lorikeet paradise is a light and bright piece which would add a splash of colour and interest to any space.
