Sunshine Beach Nippers by Sam Askin

To me growing up, Summer holidays were surf beaches on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland. I would spend my time in the surf on boogie boards and body surfing with my family, and I now do the same with my own kids and partner. This artwork captures that Summer holiday feeling for me, the late afternoon drinks at the surf club (where the reference photo was taken), Pandanus palms lining the dunes, Nippers out training in the waves once the majority of beach-goers had cleared for the day. It is like a big window into an ideal holiday, bringing that sense of escape and endless Summer to the living room.
