LA Palm with Blue Moon by Mandy McGuire –  is inspired by the artist’s first journey to Los Angeles. At the time there were many people living out of cardboard boxes along the roadways and main thoroughfares. The artist imagined the view from the openings of these boxes; the glamour and the grunge juxtaposed. Although the situation was tragic, there was a raw beauty around every corner. The moon continued to rise and the palms reached way above the humble dwellings, adding a kind of romance to the scene. The chosen objects, however, are honest and weather-beaten: each item was gathered from various locations as far west as The Sturt Stoney desert. Professionally framed.
