‘EURYDICE’ painted by Tillian 21.3’23

In this vibrant re-imagining of the Orpheus and Eurydice myth, I capture the fateful moment when love falters before the laws of destiny. Eurydice, central and dissolving, stands at the symbolic threshold between worlds, while Orpheus—twisted into a red, tree-like form—glances back, sealing her fate. Using a palette of saturated greens, blues, and purples—interwoven with luminous shadow— I dissolve the boundary between figure and environment. Each form vibrates with musicality and lament, suggesting that the underworld is not a place but a state of emotional resonance. The moons light above and to the left seeps into the composition, casting phantasmal shades. There is no single vanishing point—space curves and folds back upon itself, like memory. Influenced by Symbolist and Expressionist aesthetics, this work exists in a liminal dreamspace, where myth operates not as narrative but as condition.

Golden acrylics on cradled wood panel. Satin varnished with isolation coat. Oak floating frame, white enameled with gold leaf facing.  Ready to hang with D-clips and cable.

Panel 90x122x2cm  Framed 95x128x3cm
