Along the Northern NSW Coast when sea mullet are schooling to breed, the professional fishermen wait on shore and watch for the passing schools.
Once spotted close to shore, a fisherman will row his dingy out, feeding out the net from the back of his boat. One end is held on the beach and he encircles the school, then rows back to the shore.
To help spotting the travelling schools the group at Minnie Waters erect a watch tower for a clearer view. This is a view of the tower at the bay at Minnie.
