Lizard in the Garden by Carol Forster

During the last few years of covid related restrictions, I have spent many hours in my home garden as well as visiting my local Botanic Gardens. This quiet time has encouraged a closer connection with the natural world.  This has enabled me to feel and observe elements of nature such as, the wind in the banksia trees, a fallen seed or twig, colourful fungi, earth under my feet and lizards and insects passing by.  “Lizard in the Gaden” reflects this connection and draws inspiration from my natural surroundings, creating for me a memory of the joys of nature at my doorstep.  Technique forms an important aspect of my work with joy coming as much from the process as the finished piece.   My investigations into relief printed images and surface representations of flora and fauna, using clay as my expressive medium, is further explored.

The vase is both sculptural and functional.

Lizard in the Garden is an original, handbuilt ceramic sculptural vase.
