Sabina Puzey is an acrylic painter who creates peace and tranquillity through her art and offers you a safe place in the joyful energy of her botanical canvasses. Her art immerses the viewer in nature and takes them on a journey of discovery and a piece of happiness.
Thanks to her mother, Sabina was surrounded by the beauty of art from an early age. Despite a passion for art, life led her to a career in finance. Still, years later, while living in London and working in the corporate world, Sabina found solace in her soul through her visits to the galleries. Her love for art never waned.

Pink Hibiscus & Elderflower | 60.9 x 76.2cm, Acrylic on canvas
During the global pandemic and the long-term effects of debilitating illness, a thoughtful gift from a friend’s mother – a painting course -became a lifeline. Completing the course was a distraction and a profound rediscovery of joy. “For years, I had been in so much pain that I didn’t believe joy existed and that I’d ever feel anything other than pain again. [Finding joy through art again] became just the biggest moment for me!”

Encouragement from friends, acknowledgment from professional artists, and recognition from a valued mentor propelled her in her artistic journey. Her work, predominantly botanical and nature-inspired, began to increasingly embody the themes of healing and surrender, reflecting her journey of overcoming chronic pain.
For Sabina, the creative process is intrinsically linked to healing and self-discovery. Daily walks and interactions with her natural surroundings provide inspiration and sketching, and quick studies using charcoal or paint help explore compositions.

Hydrangea III | 40.6 x 56.3cm, Acrylic on canvas
Once the initial concept is formed, the painting evolves organically. This intuitive process reflects her healing journey, the release of control and the acceptance of the present moment.
“My style to date has been very busy. There is a lot happening on the canvas: splashes of paint, layers upon layers of brush strokes, a lot of movement, and a lot of colour. It looks very detailed to the eye, but the process is very fluid and fast-moving like I’m possessed by the energy of the painting itself.”

Moody Hibiscus | 60.9 x 76.2cm, Acrylic on canvas
“I’ve grown up in the kitchen and love to cook, so texture is hugely important to me. I think that is why I’ve always put so much dimension and texture into my paintings. It adds depth and creates more levels, as well as that push-pull through texture as much as colour and composition.”

Jasmine Triptych | 162 x 105cm, Acrylic on 3 stretched canvases
Looking into the future, Sabina wants to explore calmer aesthetics and incorporate more open spaces into her canvasses. She is inspired to depict unconditional love and peace, the ethereal yet grounded energies of the Madonna or Virgin Mary, and delve deeper into the spiritual and healing aspects of art.
“As I grow on this journey and gain knowledge, I am becoming increasingly curious about empty space, leaving parts of the canvas completely untethered. I am intrigued by the strength and vulnerability that a raw canvas can offer.”

Once a Hydie | 91.44 x 122cm, Acrylic on canvas
Sabina’s ultimate goal is to inspire others on their own healing journeys. Art is a powerful tool for self-reflection and transformation. It encourages viewers to question, heal, open their hearts and foster a greater connection with nature, a deeper understanding of oneself, and a more compassionate and balanced world.

Hydrangea I | 20.32 x 25.4cm, Acrylic on canvas, Framed
Her journey is a testament to the healing power of art. Through art, she has found not only personal joy and healing but also a way to inspire and connect with others.
