Angela Roskell is a Gold Coast based abstract acrylic artist.
Artworks: 18
Angela Roskell is a leading Australian fluid artist, widely collected for her large-scale abstract works that balance intentional structure with intuitive movement. Her paintings are defined by earthy colour palettes, striking contrasts and a deliberate sense of flow.
Her artwork has been featured on Channel 9’s THE BLOCK, Stan’s Prosper, as well as leading design publications, curated art books and exhibitions across Australia.
“It’s never a wasted day doing what you love and for me that’s creating art.
I love the freedom, the challenge and the chance to create something beautiful that lasts. Fluid acrylics are a fascinating medium to explore, both expressive and scientific with endless possibilities. I never tire of experimenting with what they can do.”
For over a decade, Angela has worked exclusively with fluid acrylics, refining her own style and processes. Her work shifts from soft and calming to bold and energetic with the colours and movement within each piece.
Intricate lace-like patterns and hidden cells emerge through the process, adding depth and unexpected details that invite the viewer in to explore the entire piece.
She creates these effects by working with the natural behaviour of paint, using pigment density and varied consistencies to encourage organic interactions that feel both spontaneous and intentional.
Inspired by Australia’s diverse and striking landscapes, Angela draws from the places she has called home. The lush rainforests of Northern New South Wales, the golden beaches of Queensland, and the vast, mineral-rich terrain of Western Australia often find their way into her work as abstract impressions rather than direct depictions.
While creating, she leans into the joy and freedom of the process, allowing the movement of paint to echo the energy of the natural world. This fluid, expressive approach gives her paintings their flowing quality and uplifting presence.
Angela’s work has found a place in homes and workplaces across Australia, Europe, Asia, and the Americas, often chosen by collectors who appreciate its calming presence and connection to the natural world.
Angela is a Bluethumb Top 10 bestselling artist (2021–2022-2023) and a finalist in both the Art Lovers Australia Art Prize (2022) and the Bluethumb Art Prize (2021, 2023).
After stepping back to travel for 18 months, Angela has returned to Australia with a renewed vision and fresh collections that bring her signature fluid style into a new chapter.
Alongside her own practice, she has mentored emerging artists in her technique, helping to shape the next generation of contemporary fluid art in Australia.
