I am a storyteller at heart. A modern day Sheherazade. An alchemist transforming paint into truth.
I pursue elusive answers to questions that we are afraid to ask.

Christina Walker is a Mixed Media Artist. Her art is a blend of expressionism and figurative abstract with a touch of surrealism. She lived and worked in Germany and France and now resides near the coast in Queensland, Australia.
“I enjoy playing with colours and paints, using pencils and pastels to express myself. In 2024 I started experimenting with the psychological phenomenon of pareidolia (the perception of shapes in clouds, rock formations, or, as in my case, in an abstract background) in my artistic practice.
By asking myself questions before and during the creative process, such as “What do I need to know today?” or “What is on my mind?”, figures emerge and enter the physical world. These creatures then detach themselves from me, their creator, and engage in an independent dialogue with the viewer.
My intention is to make sense of the ever faster changing world, sharing what occupies my thoughts, what ails me or keeps me up at night and in doing so, to establish a connection with my fellow human beings.
I still like to work in a series: For a period of time I concentrate solely on a certain subject, theme or idea.
Examples are “Fernweh” (exploring imaginary and real landscapes) and “finding it” (following my intuition in finding “things” on my canvas) and “Stolen Moments” (portraits and expressive figurative art). I was inspired by the atmosphere of music festivals, markets and endless summers. Some of these works could be seen as part of the “Fiercely Feminine” Exhibition at the Art Lovers Gold Coast Gallery in February 2023.”
Christina is a finalist in the 2022 Art Lovers Australia Prize.
She is a finalist of the Lethbridge 20000 Small Scale Art Award 2022 and received a high commendation.
Her art is shown regularly in Brisbane and Melbourne galleries.
