Claire Cummack is a semi-abstract, whimsical artist who paints with acrylics. Her work often features florals and is characterised by layered, bold colour and simplified joyful compositions.
An intuitive artist, Claire’s works start with an emotion, a memory or a feeling and are joyful, and abundant. Using nature, especially florals, as the vehicle for emotional connection, her still life pieces and landscapes incorporate a sense of movement, humour and abundance.
Painting from her sunlit garden studio in Melbourne, Claire believes that life is too short to paint anything that does not bring joy or inspiration – she always aims to touch the heart and bring a smile.
Originally trained as an Architect, Claire’s lifelong passion has always been painting. Claire has an innate sense of design and form influenced by her training, – the need to simplify to the most basic essence, then build the complexity is evident in her works.
Appearing simple at first glance, her pieces draw the viewer in with details.
