Claire Skeet is a West Australian artist whose bold, impressionist landscapes are instantly recognizable for their vibrant colour palettes and dynamic brushwork. Entirely self-taught, Claire’s journey into painting is rooted in a lifelong passion for the creative arts. With over 15 years of experience as a costume designer, she brings a unique understanding of colour, form, and movement to her work on canvas. This background informs her intuitive approach, allowing her to explore the interplay of light and shade in ways that are both expressive and deeply personal.
Claire’s acrylic paintings are a celebration of Nature, capturing the extraordinary colours and shifting light that define the region. She often works with thickened paint, using both brush and palette knife to create rich textures and a sense of immediacy. Rather than blending on the palette, Claire prefers to mix colours directly on the canvas, resulting in works that feel alive and spontaneous. Her compositions are bold and immersive, inviting viewers to step into scenes that pulse with energy and joy.
For Claire, painting is more than a creative outlet—it is a way of living fully in the present and sharing that sense of wonder with others. She believes that art has the power to uplift, inspire, and connect people, and her goal is always to bring visual enjoyment and beauty to those who encounter her work. Each piece is an invitation to experience the world through her eyes, to find joy in colour, movement, and the ever-changing Australian light.
Claire’s work has been exhibited in group shows across Australia, and her paintings are held in private collections both locally and internationally.
