From her early experiments with water-based medium the randomness of paint has been fascinating to her. To show a loose shorthand description of the subject, with a touch of diffused mystery, she looked mostly at the post impressionists to understand the possibilities that deconstruction of the form gave to the feeling of lightness, air, and the velocity of movement. She then looked back a bit further as far back as Peter Paul Rubens and his mastery of movement in the human form. She takes her subjects in and out of focus as if using a camera obscura, with light spots and abstract obfuscated forms in the background as a compositional aide to move the eye around the work.
