Margaret River
“A dance between my memory, the paint and the canvas.” Emily’s expressionist landscapes capture the feeling of a place rather than how it appears in a photograph.

Emily Eldridge is an expressionist artist from Margaret River, specialising in landscape painting. She sells her work locally, nationally and internationally and is currently available at The Marri Tree Gallery, her studio in Margaret River, her city studio- Artigo and Tyger Gallery- Yass.
Emily is inspired by the hectare of gorgeous marri trees surrounding her studio in Margaret River, as well as the beaches and forests of the South West of Australia.
The process of creating her trees begins with walking meditations, connecting with the land and carrying that energy into her pieces. She experiments with texture, shape and colour inspired by the region’s natural palette of umber, rich greens and southern ocean blue.
Central to Emily’s practise is the idea that energy flows and changes constantly; if life throws you lemons- you have the capability to turn it, change it and build it into something beautiful. This thought process is integral as she layers paint, inks and sprays in a state of meditative flow and movement that can last for hours.
The marked golden orbs in Emily’s work are a consistent theme. This universal symbol for energy offsets the linear shape of the trees but is also an energetic representation of the life force these trees hold. It is Emily’s ode to trees; a thank you to their integral part of her healing and her immense respect for the land.
