Helen Andrade creates emotionally rich, dreamlike paintings that blend bold colour, texture, and abstraction. Her work explores identity, memory, and the subconscious—inviting viewers into layered psychological spaces that feel both intimate and mysterious.
Artworks: 55
Known for her expressive use of colour and texture, Helen Andrade’s paintings explore the emotional terrain of identity, memory, and feminine experience. Working with mixed media—including acrylic, oil stick, charcoal, ink, and collage—she builds richly layered compositions where figures emerge and dissolve, suspended between presence and absence.
Helen’s process is intuitive and emotionally driven, revealing not literal scenes but psychological atmospheres. While figures often appear in her work, they are not traditional portraits, but symbolic presences—suggesting internal states or subconscious echoes.
Her style weaves together abstraction, figuration, surrealism, and expressionism, creating artworks that invite personal reflection. Each piece offers a moment of stillness, ambiguity, and emotional depth.
Collectors love Helen’s work for its raw emotional power, richly textured surfaces, and its ability to hold both beauty and ambiguity in the same breath.
With over 30 years of painting experience and a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Distinction, Helen continues to develop her unique visual language, creating works that connect deeply with audiences across Australia and beyond.
