JOHN LOUIS LLOYD
Port Melbourne abstract artist, John Louis Lloyd, utilises a range of mixed media and different substrates while creating his abstract painting series. The background influences that inform the abstract compositions include concepts that science and spirituality share in some way. Analogies are drawn between earthly and astral events, between the microcosmos and the greater cosmos.

ARTIST STATEMENT
“My creative path has been led by my fascination with the parallel worlds that have appeared before me throughout my existence. Microscopic events remind me of cosmic phenomena, and the concept of a higher power finds its way inevitably into several of my series. Although I have enjoyed studying the old masters and the modern masters, I have been creatively autodidactic and influenced most by my contemporary mentor, Melbourne artist Jennifer Webb, with whom I collaborate until today. As such, I am a third-generation creative. I utilise a diverse range of media and approaches to weave my abstract tales, and I channel my processes through series, some of which follow a microcosmic line, others more earthly in impetus, and some are more astral in their notions. I also believe that it is not so important what we are looking at, but what we see. Due to the duplicity of my observations and perceptions, I totally enjoy the varied interpretations of my images.”
