Fish Creek, Australia
Here you will see my pictorial diary, made into an alternate universe, pieced together by shape and colour.
My work celebrates celebrates powerful, evocative images of women immersed in water – standing strong, emerging with grace, or gliding effortlessly beneath the surface. These women are resilient, beautiful, and free.
I paint the female figure in unique, bold poses so women can confidently celebrate freedom and live braver lives. Through drips and splashes of paint, I evoke freedom. I use vibrant colours and a stark contrast to communicate confidence. The underwater world offers an other-worldly, nurturing, healing, and freeing space for my women to explore. Here my women are free from restraint, free to be who they want to be – all the things we wish for our daughters.
Artworks: 31
Born in 1972 in the small South Australian town of Wudinna, I grew up in a culture that discouraged ambition in women. After following a “sensible” path and becoming a mother, I returned to my first love: art. I completed a Bachelor of Visual Art (Painting) at the South Australian School of Art in 2012, winning the UniSA Medal and exhibiting in the prestigious Helpmann Academy Graduate Exhibition.
Today, I live and work in Fish Creek, Victoria, after nearly 30 years in remote Northern Territory. My practice spans painting and underwater photography, with works held in private collections worldwide. Career highlights include Finalist selections for the 2013 RSASA Portrait Prize, the 2021 Bluethumb Art Award, and the 2024 Percival Photographic Portrait Prize. In 2024, I completed a two-month artist residency in Germany, followed by my first international solo show.
Through vibrant colour, movement, and illusionistic realism, my work explores freedom and self-expression. I am inspired by women who face adversity with courage. Uplifting women through art is the heart of my creative practice.
