Lucinda’s work sits between realism and abstraction. Rather than describing specific locations, she pares scenes back to their essential elements, using atmosphere, colour and space to convey mood and memory. Her landscapes are calm, restrained and contemplative, shaped by long observation of the Australian environment and an enduring fascination with light, weather and what remains after storms have passed.
She works slowly and often in series, allowing ideas to deepen over time. Her road paintings reflect distance and quiet journey, while her broader landscapes explore resilience, isolation and inward calm. Other bodies of work respond to the coast, the canopy surrounding her studio, and nocturnal skies, all connected by a consistent focus on horizon, atmosphere and emotional restraint.
