Photographic artist Nadia Culph, skilfully manipulates & controls light. Her still life images are inspired by nature’s curiosities & wonders. Keeping her composition simple, Nadia creates stunning photographs that aim to bring the intricate details of nature to the fore. They are a reminder to stop & smell the roses, to slow down & appreciate the little things. Adopting low-key photography as her technique, Nadia creates drama & mood using natural light to accentuate our beautiful botanicals making them the hero of the piece. Described as ‘Chiaroscuro’, which is the use of strong contrasts between light and dark, she cites Mapplethorpe & Penn as her influences. Living in Melbourne’s leafy suburbs, Nadia takes inspiration from her local surroundings with a strong focus on Australian native flora. Intrigued by unusual patterns, striking colour and bold contrasts, her clever use of diffused sunlight captures the unique design of her botanical subjects. Everything from seasonal flowers & spring seed pods to tropical leaves & exotic feathers.
With over 15 years experience in fine art photography, including 10 years in photographic printing, Nadia’s images have made their way to homes & businesses around the globe. Nadia’s artworks currently hang throughout Basscare Morgan Glen Iris & are now a part of the new refurbishment of Rydges Melbourne. March ’23 saw the opening of the newly renovated Sandstones Capella Sydney, a large art consultancy project with The Artling featuring Nadia’s artwork alongside many talented Australian artists. Her prints have been purchased for private collections & businesses globally, & for property styling & interior design projects in Australia & abroad. Nadia has also worked with international art consultants Peter Millard & Partners on large scale cruise line projects. She has most recently teamed up with Melbourne art wholesalers La Grolla, having had her work displayed at the ’23 & ’24 Decor and Design Show she has an extensive collection available in their showrooms throughout Australia. TLC Hallam currently hold a collection of over 30 of Nadia’s limited edition pieces hanging throughout their healthcare centre, a project made possible through La Grolla. Her prints are also available through M+CO Living. Adelaide Agencies & Quin & Co. London art publishers Rosenstiels have also acquired Nadia’s work with her first collection of images recently released through their global trade site Rosenstiels.com & retail site – Prints & Fine Art. 2024 has seen her provide images for promotional work with Temple st. Clair & an artwork feature in Home Design magazine and interviewed for Photo Review magazine’s 100th issue with the feature story and cover shot.
