Hi! My name is Pooja Kaul and I am s Sydney based artist. Originally from Kashmir, India, painting has been a big part of my childhood and growing years. My work represents how I connect with soil. I draw my inspiration from nature and everything that comes from the soil. Through my work I try to paint everything that soil gives us- colours, beauty, food, flora, fauna, and above all the diversity of life. My work reflects my love for the nature, wildlife and mundane things, that can remind the viewer of the comforting, peaceful and familiar scenes. Because of this my spectrum of work ranges from landscapes, to still life and wildlife portraits in a close to realistic form, so that I can express my varied connect with nature to bring a sense of calm, consciousness and grounding for the viewer. I use multiple layering method to create depth and give some textural visual effect to the work. I love strong colour palette and earthy shades which you can find evident in my works. I am also a paper art enthusiast and enjoy creating paper quilling works which are art pieces on their own.
My studio is a dedicated peaceful corner in my home.
My camera is my constant companion to freeze the moments and places that I want to paint.
