Sharmain Lowe, is a self-taught mixed media abstract artist. Her artworks are often inspired by nature, from underwater scenes and aerial views, to micro and macro studies.
Born and raised in the beautiful Yarra Valley, Victoria, Sharmain now lives with her husband in the Melbourne suburb of Park Orchards, near Warrandyte and the Yarra River.
Sharmain’s artworks are in galleries in Melbourne and Sydney, and she has participated in multiple group and solo exhibitions. A collaboration with the clothing company Nikol and Sole was featured in their Autumn-Winter 2019 collection. This collaboration was inspired by one of her paintings Fragments of Nature.
Sharmain’s great love of interior design, textiles, and her garden are never ending sources of inspiration for her latest colour combinations. Her favourite mediums to use are acrylic and ink. Most of the time the initial layers begin with a textured surface, followed with fluid impasto mediums and other mark making implements.
Married with two daughters, Sharmain did what many women do and put their creative passion aside and performed a non-creative job for nineteen years (until that all important renovation and mortgage were paid off). Now it is Sharmain’s time to put those creative ideas onto canvas.
