Tracey Hewitt is a Central Queensland artist whose work explores the unseen forces that connect humans, land, and the quiet interior world. Living on a remote cattle property near Theodore, she draws deeply on the rhythms of rural life, the vastness of the Australian landscape, and the intuitive whispers found in silence. Her mixed-media practice spans acrylics, botanical monoprints, eco-printing, collage, and encaustic wax—each medium acting as a conduit for both the physical textures of the earth and the subtle, mysterious energies that shape our inner lives.
Time spent in the Australian deserts, the Kimberley, and Cape York has profoundly influenced Tracey’s visual language. Early works from 2022–2024 reflect abstracted landscapes pulsing with colour, contrast, and the felt sense of being held by nature—welcomed, invited in, embraced. As her practice evolved, softer series emerged through eco printing and encaustic techniques, revealing gentler, more intimate meditations on belonging and the quiet conversations between humans and the natural world.
A significant shift occurred following the deaths of her parents-in-law, when Tracey began witnessing uncanny bird encounters during meaningful moments. These experiences deepened her exploration of “Whispers From The Silence”—the unexplainable yet deeply felt messages that hover at the edges of perception. Her work now sits at the intersection of earth and ether, weaving tenderness, memory, and mystery into layered surfaces.
Tracey’s art invites viewers to pause, listen, and rediscover the treasures offered by silence: peace, vitality, and a renewed connection to the things we sense but cannot see.
