Australian Artist Yianni Johns paints in oil on canvas in a representational style emphasising the surreal nature and beauty alive and well in the architecture, aircraft, cars, human portraits and pets he paints.
There are no limits to Yianni’s passion for painting most recently completing a fine art mural for Qantas. The famous ‘Gundagai Girls’ mural in Gundagai NSW another building sized work of art by Yianni Johns.
For four years up until 2023 Yianni painted back to back commissions with some works as small as 5″ x 7″ jam packed with detail and reality going off to all parts of the world.
A two Time finalist in the National Napier Waller Art Prize 2020 and 2022.
A semi finalist in the famed Doug Moran Portrait Prize 2012.
Myf Warhurst and Larry Page (Music Producer from the 60’s produced ‘Wild Thing’ with the Troggs and the Kinks) have sat for Yianni in his reach for the Archibald Prize.
In 2010 Yianni Johns was awarded and Australia Day Award for his services to Arts and Culture and since then has been an Australia Day Ambassador Artist sharing his story with Australia.
In 2024 Yianni Johns was invited to have a solo exhibition in the Leeton Museum Gallery during the annual Art Deco Festival where Johns filled the gallery with his exhibition called ‘Adoring Art Deco.’
Apart from all this stuff Yianni just loves to paint and he hasn’t stopped painting for many decades with his art taking him all over the world. Yianni says his art is his oxygen and without it he wouldn’t survive. Beauty is in the hand of the brush holder Yianni says.
