A delicate balance by Annette Raff –

This original abstracted artwork in mixed media, won a Highly Commended Prize at the Lethbridge 20000 Small Arts 2022 competition. Inspired by my surroundings encountered during walks in parkland. Both organic and human-made structures are discernible within the composition.

I describe this as one of my painted, collaged, explosive arrangements, where I use a an amalgam of techniques and mediums including intricate pencil drawings, mono-printed textures and painted pieces in a process of deconstruction and reconstruction. The connecting and disconnecting passages emulate the delicate balance vital to our existence with nature.

I relish the thrill and challenge of discovering a visual order through this dynamic process of layering until a kind of chaotic yet harmonious rhythm is achieved.

Custom framed in a beautiful contemporary black coloured, timber frame with an inner cedar coloured timber insert. The glass is of museum quality and conservation clear glass (antireflective).
