A Tulip by any other Name by Sarah Walker – A piece that symbolises and celebrates being a square peg for a round hole. I purposefully choose angular, pointed, and sharp lines for the usually soft shapes of flowers and fruit. This is how I feel sometimes- pointed and angular and not fitting in the “usual” things around me. However I also expressly chose beautiful, vibrant, saturated colours to highlight that you can be an “unexpected” shape in life and still be exquisitely beautiful and make the world more beautiful for you being a part of it. With a nod to Shakespeare and his “Rose by any other name”, I prefer tulips so went with them instead.
