Abstract Mickey: by Brendan Walsh (ColdGhost)

Pop Painting on Recycled paper on cardboard

This original Artwork features Mickey Mouse & is a continuation of my current series, playfully mixing vintage cartoons with modern reality.

Childhood fantasies of future technology from last century, Astro Boy Cartoons & Robot Comics, collide with the reality of this Century.

Into the future we stride, smart phones in hand, typing all our personal information into Apps, our likes & dislikes, our exact location being tracked by satellites.

All this juicy information harvested and sold off to advertisers; ready to capitalise on our every desire and insecurity.

I agree to all T’s & C’s and tick the box; I’m not a Robot.

My art is directly influenced by Graffiti in City Laneways, Vintage Billboards and other weathered surfaces & is also inspired by my love of gestural abstraction and my obsession with using spray paint.

Insitu examples are not to scale.

The work was created on paper and paint to give a rough textured finish, then glued down to quality cardboard and is mounted in a black frame under perspex.
