Among the Gum Trees by Susanne Bianchi.

I have strong emotional attachment to the outback. As a child we were very lucky to live near the bush, it was our playground. The aroma of eucalypts, the buzzing of insects, birdsong, the peace and blazing heat; these are what I remember as its essence. To me this essence is the spirit of being Australian. I have painted my memory of the beautiful gum trees that we played under.

I always start with multiple layers of under-colour boldly placed onto the canvas to create depth and mystery. I then add brush loads of muted bush colours to provide the undergrowth and background. I also try to suggest sunlight filtering through the trees tops gently kissing the leaves and underbrush. There may even be a cockatoo up in the trees!  I have then placed my beautiful Gum trees, with their fabulous multi coloured bark, front and center.

Acrylic paint on stretched linen, sealed with a coat of satin varnish. It is ready to hang.
