My original painting is a narrative image about the importance and beauty of trees. The tree is a symbol of life and hope in this time of fearfulness about the future for our natural environment. I want the audience to perceive the tree as a sentient being or a spiritual guide. My ideas come from many years of mentally collecting imagery, otherwise known as daydreaming. My trees are well known characters taken from the landscape and repositioned in a situation to invite the viewer to connect on an emotional and spiritual level, and to bring attention to the vital importance of trees and their role in our ecology.
