Artist as AI: by Brendan Walsh (ColdGhost)

The mixed media work was created by layering Street Posters, pages of a Sci-Fi novel and other recycled paper onto a quality canvas to create a very textured surface.

I then used spray packs, paint pens and acrylic used to create the work. This original painting is a continuation of my current series, playfully exploring the merging of Man & Machine.

Childhood fantasies of future technology from last century, Astro Boy Cartoons & Robot Comics, collide with the reality of this Century.

Into the future we stride, smart phones in hand, typing all our personal information into Apps, our likes & dislikes, our exact location being tracked by satellites.

All this juicy information harvested and sold off to advertisers; ready to capitalise on our every desire and insecurity.

I agree to all T’s & C’s and tick the box; I’m not a Robot.

My art is directly influenced by Graffiti in City Laneways, Vintage Billboards and other weathered surfaces & is also inspired by my love of gestural abstraction and my obsession with using spray paint.

The canvas is painted black around the edges and is ready to hang.

Insitu examples are not to scale.
