This artwork is a new way of working for me and is very different from my usual style. It is fitting that the meaning of the name Avril is ‘opening buds of spring; born in April.’ For me, this holds significance because the artwork was produced in the month of April and I like to think of Avril as a new beginning in my creative journey.
In producing Avril, I felt a sense of freedom and found myself letting the practice become more organic. I let the journey become the important part of the process rather than the final result.
