Banjo’s Ghost

I love Australian myth/folklore which can often be found in the work of the great Australian writers and poets.

My inspiration for this work comes from Banjo Paterson’s Waltzing Matilda – the story of the jolly swagman who avoided capture by diving into (and drowning in) the billabong. According to Banjo, the swagman lives on as a ghost. In this depiction, the swagman’s ghost has stirred at the sight and sound of a lone camper by the bank of the billabong.
