Additional Information

Banksia Serrata Still III by Smith & Brooks is an original painting from the collection, ‘Coastal Noir’.

Banksia serrata, also known as saw banksia and old man banksia, can be found along the east coast of Australia from southern Queensland through to Victoria with small pockets of growth as far south as Tasmania. In this piece, the foliage of the banksia serrata was carefully collected from the roadside near Jacky’s mothers home in Port Stephen’s and placed into a simple vessel.

The colour palette of ‘Banksia Serrata Still III’ has been inspired by the blackened trunks of banksia that have been touched by bushfire. There is also a hint of the muted yellows inspired by the blooms of this iconic coastal native. ‘Banksia Serrata Still III’ has been created in conjunction with ‘Coastal Hibiscus Still I’ and the pair bring a sense of deep reflection when hung together.

This artwork comes framed in sustainably sourced oak float frame, ready to hang. The framed size of the work is 63cm x 93cm x 5.5cm
