This painting is Godwits by Lyn Graham, part of my Habitats series.

The creatures along the shoreline fascinate me, especially the crabs and birds.

I love the birds who perch on the rocky headlands ever watchful for food and intruders. Some of my favourites are oystercatchers and cormorants.

I also love the flocks of migratory birds such as the Eastern Curlews and Bar-tailed Godwits who travel thousands of kilometres each year to be on our shores. It is shameful that we are destroying their habitats.

The Habitats series paintings are watercolours on full sheets of cotton paper, framed in pine.
