Be yourself by Rosemary Legat – Acrylic paint, collage and acrylic ink pen on thick sided wood panel.

I created a body of work on cradled wood panels to be part of my art exhibition at the hairdressers I go to in Preston, Melbourne (Raw Edge & Beauty). Be Yourself is one of those pieces and like the other figurative artworks I created at the time, was inspired by a zoom life drawing session I previously participated in.

I used the same model’s pose as inspiration for the four individual dynamic figurative artworks included in my display. Each of the figurative pieces are similar to each other but each has its own personality and beautiful in its own way.

Be Yourself is a intriguing mix of moody colours and markings with a pop of fluorescent orange. Like the others she is thick with texture due to her many intuitive layers.

Does Be Yourself have a subtle message to share? Embrace your true identity, remind yourself that you are enough!
