Beach Access by Sam Askin

I must have walked/jogged past this sign at the end of my street 1000 times, and never even noticed it that I can recall. Yet a couple of days ago on a late afternoon run I randomly looked up and caught a glimpse of it in this exact position, and it just burned into my mind. Next day I made the walk in the middle of the day to capture the view with the brilliant blue sky in the background. I love this scene because it gives me that holiday feeling that I am so connected to about where I live. The bent and weathered sign pointing to where the busy world is left behind and your mind can clear, the open space of the sky above – no high rises anywhere – that makes things feels like they just slow down that little bit more, and the tall Eucalypts and palms rising above that are so characteristic of the beachside life. Escape to the beach with this tranquil reminder that relaxation never has to be that far away!
