Beach Sunset 3 by Sam Askin

This work showcases what I am all about as an artist. A unique sunset on a beautiful beach in my region, and the intersection between the the natural wonders of an Australian beachscape intersecting with human influence and construction. Small, everyday objects we take for granted such a fence, a pair of token “Connies” drying on the palings, and overhead powerlines make these artworks totally unique. While the natural lanscape on its own is undoubtedly amazing, I love the way people and nature mix together and co-exist in ways such as the one represented by this piece. I can picture myself on holiday looking out from a backyard view towards the ocean and horizon when looking at this work, and I’m drawn to all the small details, which under any other circumstances would probably have been overlooked.
