Big Cat by Shirley Dougan

This is an original artwork which I created for an exhibition which had the theme of animals. The teeth are exaggerated to indicate how dangerous wild animals can be.

I like to paint in a somewhat ‘realistic’ way, but also like to mix it up a bit by adding layers of patterns. I make these using a variety of hand-made tools and I love the interplay between the patterns and the colours.

This is created in acrylic paints on a stretched canvas and is ready to hang. The sides are painted in a dark brown colour
