Billabong Dawn by De Gillett Cox

A richly textured, abstracted landscape that captures the stillness of water at first light. A billabong fills the foreground, its surface reflecting flashes of bold colour that break through the morning mist. The high horizon line draws the eye back through layers of scrub and shifting detail, each form emerging and dissolving through the use of negative painting. Intricate passages across the canvas suggest foliage, waterlines, and the play of light, while saturated hues give the work a striking energy. Atmospheric yet vibrant, the painting balances calm reflection with dynamic detail, evoking the mystery and beauty of dawn on the water. When making this painting, I looked at my source images upside down, and made the reflections the land, and the land the reflections. I think it adds to the abstraction, and gave me a whole bunch of intricate detail to add into the reflections.

All edges Gallery-wrapped with the colours of the painting. Ready to hang with D-Rings and plastic-coated wire.

Signed on the Front.
