Additional Information

An A3, unframed, alcohol ink and black pen piece, on yupo paper.

Billy Buttons are cute, yellow, ball-shaped native flowers seen in natural Australian environments. In my interpretation, I’ve used black pen against a warm coloured background, to highlight this lovely flower, creating both contrast and a silhouette image.

Alcohol ink is a fun and interesting medium to use, but is challenging to master. So, in my eyes, it’s a blend of skill and happy accidents. This ink is vivid in colour and the fluid, sometimes transparent look, is appealing. When working the medium, I use only movement of the wet ink (blow dryer or tilting the paper) and occasionally a cotton bud. I don’t use brushes.

‘Billy Buttons’ will be posted with a certificate of authenticity, in a flat pouch and protected by recycled cardboard. As I live in rural Tasmania now, please allow a little more time for delivery. Thank you.
