Bio Bloom – Rain Joy II by Jacquelyn Stephens

This is an original, one off, abstract painting on canvas ready to hang on your beautiful wall. This painting allows you to come in close and experience the joy inspired by aquatic, molecular and microscopic life. In a gentle palette of pink and white with copper tones and flashes of gold.

In this painting I was thinking about the haphazard patterns that raindrops make on windscreens or concrete pathways and how beautiful this is but also how it connects with biology and cellular patterns on a microscopic slide. It also reminds me of flower petals and blossoms blowing in the breeze. Invisible beautiful moments in nature, under currents, drifts, ebbs and flows. Patterns on a microscopic and macroscopic scale. I find all these things meditative and worthy of contemplation.

I love painting on raw linen. Linen is so beautiful already it just needs a spot of colour to create some magic. And this heavy duty Belgian linen has a rich thick weave that provides plenty of texture and a beautiful matte surface. So that is why, in this painting I left some of the background alone and allowed these characteristics of the natural linen to set the stage for spots of colour and brush marks to daintily dance across the surface.

What I enjoy most about my paintings is they make people smile with a sense of wonderment and feelings of calm as well as creating a talking point for years to come.

ALL PAINTINGS ARE VARNISHED with Professional Quality Artists Varnish, once they have been photographed. This gives a protective surface and an exquisite sheen that really makes the colours powerful & eye-catching.

The painting is on canvas wrapped around traditional wooden stretcher bars with edges that are a smart 3.5cm deep out from your wall.
