Bits and Pieces by Susanne Bianchi.

The artist’s body of work is governed by her mission to reassign meaning to materials that have outlived their perceived purpose. Susanne works with reclaimed wood and other items to produce geometric wall sculptures that may remind the viewer of abstract modernist paintings.

Her collection of small timber off-cuts—leftovers from projects undertaken at her local Woodworkers Workshop; plus other items and bits of flotsam collected over time and kept in a box.  Susanne calls this her box of life’s forgotten fragments.

Susanne began assembling these items together, playing with shapes and texture to create an interesting and pleasing piece. Whilst doing this the Dave Clark Five song Bits and Pieces from1964 popped into her head—a perfect name for this evolving composition.

Some of the timber remains in its natural state, while others are stained or painted with acrylics, adding depth and contrast. For a further interest a few vintage buttons, washers, pieces of hacksaw blades and whatever else came out of her magic box. Each element is securely adhered to a timber-framed board, creating a rich, textured assemblage.

The result is a captivating interplay of shape, colour, and materials—so many bits and pieces coming together to form something entirely new.

Comes with Certificate of Authenticity. The piece is finished in a satin varnish (please note images are taken before the varnish to reduce reflection).

Note that insitu examples may not be to scale.

The artwork is framed and ready to hang.
