Black Sun by John Salm fine art photographer – Limited edition (26) print fine art photographic print.

I was in Port Stephens, New South Wales during the 2019 bush fires. Whilst it wasn’t affected by fire the sky was shrouded in smoke from nearby fires most of the time that I was there.
One evening as the sun was setting, I was drawn to the eeriness of the sunset through the smoke. I took the opportunity to photograph the sunset. I was able to photograph the sun as the smoke had blunted the brightness of the sun. It took me roughly twelve months to work out how I wanted to complete this artwork. I wanted to reference the sadness of the destruction but also the renewal of bushfires.
Black Sun is part of the Water Related series and the companion piece to Hint of Hope.
