‘Blue Skies’ by Joanna Greenwood is a much loved favourite. It was inspired by a rolling storm over the blue skies of Mona Vale Beach on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. Bold brush strokes in ink are complimented by the softer movement of charcoal in this scene. Chopsticks were dipped in a darker ink wash to add the detailed line work. This creates the energy of the storm, the levels of the landscape below, and the implication of the coming rain. This original artwork is unframed and has been painted onto watercolour paper for texture.
