Abstract Urban Painting

This original Mixed Media Artwork was created with washes of colour added to the canvas loosely to build up the abstract background. Once the canvas is completely covered with colour, smaller marks and details are added in layers, pulling the work together.

For me, creating abstract artwork is purely about instinct and emotional expression.

This artwork is dominated by large splashes of Navy liquid pigment and id finished off with spray packs. The work also continues my experimentation with using different techniques to apply the paint Sponges, rags, plastic, scrapers, paint pens, stencils, pencils, in fact anything except brushes.

The artwork is a Abstract Statement piece and will give maximum impact to any room.

My art is directly influenced by Graffiti in City Laneways, Vintage Billboards and other weathered surfaces & is also inspired by my love of gestural abstraction and my obsession with using spray paint.
