Butterfly Girl by Rebecca Warr

Butterfly girl is an exploration of mixed media and my new obsession with portraits. The background layer was built up with a spontaneous application of paint followed by charcoal markings. Following this, the profile and butterflies were added as well as the impasto lace to increase interest and a surface texture. Finally, I decided to add some oil pastel to enhance the blue areas and give the painting a little more character.
